What happens during your first appointment?
We endeavour to get to the root of any injury or dysfunction you have, it’s simply the best way to get you back to full fitness, whether it’s taking part in your favourite past-time or being able to get back to work.
Initially one of the team will talk with you to gather as much information as possible regarding your specific symptoms, questions are likely to include how it happened, where the symptoms are & if there is any previous history of the injury. We also enquire as to any recent and previous medical procedure you have encountered so we can fully decide how best to treat you. We may also need to know of any medication you are currently taking.
Once we have as much information as we can to formulate an initial diagnosis, we will ask you to dress down so we can view the specific area in question. An important point to note is that if you would find this part of the examination uncomfortable; please feel free to bring a friend or family member with you. We want you to feel as comfortable as possible. Having viewed where your symptoms are originating from we may ask you to perform a simple series of movements and other orthopaedic test, as well as possibly examining your reflexes, blood pressure, and listening to your heart or lungs.
We will try to explain as much of the findings from the assessment as we can and give you the diagnosis in a way you can understand. Treatments can involve the use of soft tissue massage, spinal manipulation, articulation and stretching of joints as well as providing a series of exercises for you to perform whilst you continue your rehabilitation.
